About Heritage of Amritsar

The fourth Sikh guru founded Amritsar as a little community in the middle of the 16th century. The guru invited people from many tribes, professions, and religions, gave them land, and helped them settle here. Amritsar is located between the RAVI and BEAS rivers. Over time, Amritsar developed into a city and became the second most significant town in Punjab, behind Lahore. Even though the city is a Sikh-dominated vertical, non-Sikhs make up 60% of the population. The charm of the city known as “Amritsar” or “Guru ki Nagri” is that, in addition to Sikhs, here reside Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, Christians, Parsis, and Muslims.
